Motorcycle Fork Compression Adjuster Pushrods

Teknik Compression Adjuster Pushrod

Compression Adjuster Pushrod

If your motorbike has modern "Separate Function Forks", you probably have a comp adjustment clicker on one top cap & reb on the other, but for many adjustable designs both caps have compression damping adjusters - learn more about open or closed chamber front forks. If you've never adjusted your dampers, read our clickers article - they're like opening or closing a tap for more or less suspension oil to flow. Adjuster assemblies are compact but complex, with everything revolving around a threaded hollow centre rod; at the base are comp valving parts — shims & washers assembled either side of a piston and locked onto a base valve "tower" with a locknut. The connecting pushrod slides inside that centre shaft to press the valves according to your clicker, while top caps seal with o-rings, contain a clicker assembly and bleed screw, and house a free piston, seals and bushes; changeable inner chamber springs, fork adjuster parts, clicker knobs, free pistons and full revalving kits let you tune initial plushness and overall compression behaviour.

How compression adjuster pushrods work

  • Translate top-cap clicker movement into valve stack pressure
  • Control compression damping flow through piston, shims & washers
  • Influence initial fork plushness via inner chamber spring and free piston
  • Allow incremental on-the-fly damping changes for road or track use

Recommended Pairings

Consider matching pushrod maintenance or upgrades with Suspension Tools for accurate adjustment and service.
