The pair of coil springs in your forks are rated for an "average" weight rider. But are you average? Are you bigger or smaller than your bike's factory test rider? Do you ride very different terrain? Do you carry a pillion passenger? Or lots of motorcycling gear? You may need a different rate spring than what your OEM manufacturer was expecting - see our spring selection article for more info.
We offer multiple spring brands in many sizes and in many spring rates - including linear (straight) rates as well as progressive rates which start softer and get firmer during the suspension travel. Fork springs are measured using their outer diameter (in millimetres), as they need to be small enough to fit inside the damper tubes, and their total height with no pre-load applied (also in millimetres). If you know what size you want, you can quickly narrow down our whole list using our Fork Spring Search tool!

Although lightweight modern air forks use pneumatic pressure as the main "spring" - they still use the old fashioned steel spiral tubes as balance springs - they are the core of any suspension.
We also have preload spacers & washers available for your fork tube size too. If your stock compression coils are close but just needs a little tuning, and your oil filled front forks do not have adjustable preload, you can open your motorbike fork legs and add these metal rings to increase the initial force provided by the spring, reducing front sag.
For more info on fitting and setting up your springs and their pre-load check out the info in our Teknik Fork Spring Installation Guide - when compressed they hold a lot of force and can break bones (we've all seen the videos), so make sure you're changing springs properly with a Fork Spring Compressor Tool.
