Motorcycle Shock Absorber Bare Body

The rear coilover on your motorbike has a cast aluminium main shock body that ties all the other suspension assemblies together - available in naked alloy or anodized with a performance Kashima coating.

These are bare factory replacement piggyback shock absorber cases from Kayaba & Showa - the two biggest names in Japanese suspension - find out more about different damper styles. In addition to the tube for the damping piston, they have a separate cylinder cast into the outer case, giving extra oil & cooling - see our Nitrogen Bladder Parts category when servicing. The machined alloy bodies come in a range of different shapes to fit each bike's chassis, with a yoke at the top to bolt the mounting bearings. Don't forget you will need to regas the shocks after a rebuild too using Gas Charging Tools.

Once your suspension is repaired we highly recommend a mechanical or hydraulic preload adjuster from our Shock Upgrade Parts section to screw onto those dampers that have minimal clearance - no more tight spaces and jiggling preload spanners tiny turns for hours. And no more kneeling in the mud to do it.
