Motorcycle Shock Absorber Stop End Caps

At the base of your motorbike damper's body is a hard metal cover around the main shock shaft - this end cap seals the area out to the cylinder bore of the shock body. It isn't actually sealing the shock absorber pressure in - there is an oil seal head assembly behind it - but it protects that delicate seal case from rock strikes & corrosive mud build up plus transfers the force of bottoming out on hard landings.

Your bump stop thumps pretty hard, so check regularly for cracks or deformation of the cap, especially if you're racing hard offroad or have reduced suspension travel from shock lowering spacers - because they are hidden away these bottom covers often get neglected, leading to bigger rebuilds later.
