Motorcycle Shock Suspension Spring Lower Seat
The bottom end of a motorbike's rear shock absorber needs a way to attach the coil spring to the shock shaft, and this assembly needs to hold the bottoming out rubber safely in place too. A holder cup around the main shaft holds the conical bumper, with a lock ring (shaped like a big c-clip) sat on top to retain the spring. See our article on replacing shock springs for a better idea.
One of these spring perch seats sit on top of that locking clip, with an inner alignment lip sitting up inside the coil, which keeps the spring sitting concentrically around the damper to avoid any possible rubbing during suspension movement. The ring collar height can act as a spacer washer or shim to adapt shorter springs to longer shocks or help adjust the pre load pressure - learn more about spring rate, preload & sag.
