Sachs is a large suspension company now owned by the German ZF automotive group, and most of their factory motorbike coilovers can be rebuilt - including BMW's complex Electronic Suspension Adjustment shocks - so when your components are worn out you can rebuild them yourself. Genuine servicing consumables inside these exotic shocks aren't that amazing given all the other fancy tricks; the bladder cap lacks clearance & it's regas service valve can be leaky, the seal head has no outer dust wiper meaning a shorter life span for the oil seal, the internal floating piston that separates oil from nitrogen is made of plastic & regularly fails.
Thankfully we have overhaul parts that repair your normal Sachs ESA to better than new - designed & tested in the UK by T-Tech. Not the easiest shock to fix - specialist suspension tools like our BMW Wi-Fi ODBII Set can help - but it's certainly not impossible: watch our suspension guru Nick dyno test an ESA shock absorber.
If you want to push it a little further, we also sell stock replacement dampers with upgraded electrically adjusted DDA valves that don't give errors or lose any functionality; Tractive staff helped design & develop the ESA system & offer compatible bolt-in heavy duty front & rear coilover units and front fork leg cartridge kits that can replace your whole system - giving the ultimate in customized aftermarket performance without pesky dashboard warnings.

When maintaining your OEM rear shocks, please be careful while removing & refitting the spring - we have all seen the DIY hacks & resulting injuries. Don't forget you will need to regas your shock after fixing it too; we have fresh performance shock fluid (and a range of other performance lubricants) for your regular oil change, plus special regassing tools to service piggyback monoshocks like these. Overhauling your suspension is always easier with our complete DIY parts packs.
