Motorcycle Shock Stroke Lowering Spacer Sets
When most riders talk performance the first thing they think of is POWER - but if you're smart, that's the last on the list. Shoving grunt into a chassis that can't cope builds a scary bucking bronco. First steps are basics - make sure your bike is properly maintained, clean, no leaks, fresh oil, good clutch setup. Remove any extra weight. Fit grippy tyres. You've got the perfect starting point! Quality suspension comes next & Teknik Motorsport are motorcycle suspension tuning experts.
Production line motorbikes are identical, but the racers on them are custom built. Manufacturers can include spring preload adjustability or compression & rebound damping clickers to fine tune for some weights, but height adjustment? No way shorty, try a different bike! Not so fast - Teknik have modifications.
Our high quality aftermarket front & rear lowering kits are the most complete, so if you have those models, that's our recommendation. Replacement lowered linkages drop the rear suspension - they're an affordable, easy DIY garage install and fit a wider range of motorcycles too. You can slide the fork leg tubes through the clamps to customise balance, and that gets many short riders with feet down. Careful, low sports bikes might scrape speed bumps now. For adventure & offroad riders that can't find a link or want more - these internal spacer washers limit the stock shock absorber piston travel - stopping the coilover from reaching full length.

These durable damper components slide inside any shocks - including options for 14, 16 or 18mm outer diameter shafts - with a full set for professional tuners. Your ride height has just dropped, so you need more comp & reb damping to eat bumps over less stroke range. Clicking the adjustment harder is a start, but since you've already stripped the shock apart, revalving the shims makes for a much better upgrade. You can get plushness & comfort from a lowered performance suspension, but the damping parts have to be set up right.
We've heard of workshops promising a shorter seat height with the same ground clearance; quick fact: unless they're slicing grinders through your frame, seat frame & sump have permanently linked dimensions. They're betting payment has cleared before you take out a tape measure. Talk to expert technicians, not hustlers.
Watching racing videos, do the winners look like they're being kicked around? That circuit star can lean further, without braking dive, sailing over cornering bumps that push you off line. That motocross hero hooks up on loosest dirt, turns quicker after landing jumps, floats over whoops that rattle you roughly. Are they more skilled? Maybe. But their motorbike is predictable & controlled, giving confidence to push grip further & time to concentrate on faster laps.
Tuned suspensions aren't just for the track though. Riding on potholed tarmac or offroad trail adventures improves too - a smooth ride, comfortable saddle no longer absorbing corrugations & vibration, longer endurance. Keeping safe tyre contact with the road under all conditions gives more grip & acceleration.
So now you've built up some skills & experienced riding a competent bike, how about setting up your gearing for better lap times & ridability? You're finally ready to turn up the wick with a screaming tuned engine & a blasting aftermarket muffler - but have a think about it first.
