Motorbike front forks need regular servicing to replace worn parts - especially the seals & bushings. Dust Seals (also called wipers) are the first line of defence & the only part you can see from the outside once the upper & lower fork casing tubes are rebuilt. They keep dirt & grit out of the suspension.
Oil Seals are the softer viton rubber rings underneath, with a tiny thin spring around the edge to squeeze the lip onto the inside fork tube, stopping lubricants leaking out & leaving metal to grind. The lips are fragile, so use a fork seal driver kit to hammer carefully during a rebuild to avoid twists or kinks.
These single oil seals from factory manufacturers KYB & Showa plus newly re-formed Marzocchi stop leaks, protecting everything inside one fork leg - especially the teflon coated bushings.

If you're a competent DIY garage tuner, check out our complete fork rebuild kits where you get a full set of seals, wipers, inner & outer ring bushes, along with some assembly grease - but if you're not up to it, Teknik Motorsport also offers a 3 month warranty on the fork seals we install at our workshop.
We recommend looking at our Fork Performance Parts section to find mud scrapers & tube protection covers if you regularly spend time offroad - but the best & cheapest thing you can do for your bike's suspension? Pressure wash it properly when you get home from riding! If the grit & dirt can't cake & dry on there to begin with, those seals don't get chunks ripped up, that chrome doesn't get scored & pit, the smooth sliding isn't wrecked, so none of it needs to be rebuilt as often.
