Fork leg cartridges took over the offroad racing world decades ago, their speed sensitive compression & rebound damping parts providing smoothness, comfort & precision control. Why are older style (position sensitive) damper rods found inside current manufacturer front forks then? They hurt your arms over long adventures, give a rough, bumpy ride & dive under brakes - but they are cheap, durable & reliable.
