Shock Seal Case O-Ring

Motorbike shocks use a damping shaft that slides inside the main shock absorber body. To keep all the oil and nitrogen pressure inside that casing there is a lower seal head assembly between the two. Rear dampers have multiple defences — an oil seal deep inside, a dust wiper on the outside, a rod bushing to keep it sliding concentrically, a rubber o-ring sealing the outer diameter and a rebound top out bumper facing inwards. That bump stop can be a rubber ring or a small steel coil spring, and it makes sure no damage happens if the shock piston bumps into the bottom case.

Sealing and leak prevention for lower shock heads

  • Stop fluid and nitrogen leaks between the lower head and shock body cylinder bore
  • Maintain damping consistency and prevent contamination of internals
  • Factory-fit replacements for KYB & Showa suspension heads
  • Essential for full shock rebuilds and reliable track or road use

Recommended Pairings

When servicing the seal case consider tools and service items such as Suspension Tools, suspension fluids and regassing tools. Read our guides on removing the shock spring and picking the right spring rate. For technical fit notes see KYB & Showa.
