WR250R Shock Build for RideADV

RideADV uses these little Yamaha 250cc warriors when going for adventures in new places - they are the perfect blend of compact motocross agility and manoeuvrability with enough of the comforts and gear needed for road use. Whenever they are checking out new trails and aren't sure if they can fit a big twin cylinder dual sport, the WR250R paves the way by taking a chainsaw and making a path. They can rent you one for their tours too - let us know what you think! We can give your WR250R the same setup.

This video takes you through some of the things we've already tried in previous rebuilds, which variables are important, the changes we make to a stock shock and why. Then we put it on the suspension dynamometer and run it till it's nice and hot, to ensure the modifications are still making solid damping at the end of a hot day of thrashing, not just fresh in the morning. Yes, your shocks get up to 100 degrees celsius during offroad use, and plenty of tuners don't take that into account during their testing.
